First Visit
About
Our office serves patients of all ages. We encourage parents to bring children for their first visit by the age of two.

Patients should arrive 10/15 minutes prior to schedule visit to allow time to fill out office forms and health history. Insurance cards should be brought to the initial appointment. A parent or legal guardian needs to accompany any minor children to their appointment.

The first visit will generally consist of a comprehensive oral examination which includes oral cancer screening. Any radiographs (x-rays) that are necessary will be taken at that time. Bitewing radiographs are necessary to detect decay (cavities) and a panoramic radiograph or complete survey is often used to access growth and development, bone health, presence of abnormalities including, impacted teeth, cysts, tumors and abscesses.

A prophylaxis (dental cleaning) and fluoride treatment is completed at the first visit unless the patient is diagnosed with periodontal (gum) disease. Oral hygiene/home care instructions are given and individualized to each patients needs.

Results of oral exam and radiographic exam are reviewed and if further dental treatment is necessary a treatment plan will be compiled. Patients are encouraged to return for regular dental exams and cleanings.
